#1The following story is in response to my correspondance with Steve Gambert about the Bob Gray incident. I sent him an e-mail asking him about which dog Gray was actually handling at the time: You're absolutely right. Blues was the dog Ed Greene had and then Frank Beech handled him. Them damn German Shepherd Dogs all look alike to me. I'm drawing a blank as to what happened to Casey. I know he survived. I'll make a call in a few hours and see if I can get some more info. I'm thinking of the same dog, but for whatever reason, I got him confused with Blues. Probably because Ed Greene and Bob Gray worked together a lot. I know Ed Greene had Blues because Blues was a great bomb dog. I wanted Blues, but I got MacBeth, who was decertified just before I got him and I got him re-certified after about 3 months of intensive training. That was when the instructors from Kadena came down to Clark to teach the course there. MacBeth turned out to be OK. A decent bomb dog but a great attack dog. MacBeth used to tear shit up. One time I cut Mac loose on three intruders behind the Supply compound. He took off after them and I could hear them screaming, out in the distance. He jobbed one of them then got the second. I remember calling in 10-13 (officer needs assistance) and all kinds of mobile patrols showed up to help. I was on the road to POL behind supply when they showed up. When they found out I didn't have MacBeth and he was still loose in the fields, everyone got back in their vehicles and took- off. They said call back when I got Mac back on leash and they would return. I thought ....... That's a fine how do ya do. But then Mac had a reputation. MSgt Ayott, the flight chief, hated him. But then we were talking about Bob Gray, weren't we. Remember when I got apprehended by that bitch on Town Patrol. Then about two weeks later, by coincidence, (no shit) there was a bomb threat at Tri-Agency Patrol building outside Checkpoint. I cleared the building and the area a great distance and Mac did the most thorough search in bomb dog history. Over an hour and it was ugly. No bomb found, and then I let everyone back in the building. It probably took them a week to reorganize everything in every drawer and space in that building. I hated cops that fucked with other cops. The bitch was fired and sent to Military Customs at the Mac Terminal after that. Man, she was the ugliest white woman I ever saw. I never could get the cop out of me. I've been a reserve Deputy Sheriff for the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office here in Florida for 6 years now. I may go full time when I retire, but that won't be for a while. Sorry for the mix up on Casey Jones and Blues. Keep on doin it: Cheers, Gumby |
